Thank you for the opening page in defense of Godowsky. Quite a fiery polemic. In college I had to contend with with "professors" who smirked and rolled their eyes at the mention of Liszt, and made knowing, condescending smiles at mention of such names as Alkan, Scharwenka, Thalberg, etc. Godowsky would have been another likely target. Bravo for the progress made through real artists like those named in your opening article. I've even tried a few of godowsky's easier pieces.......his fingering alone is worthy of careful study.
